The Not for Profit Difference
Not-for-profits: Setting the StandardNew Jersey's not-for-profit long-term care, assisted living, and senior housing providers are on a mission to provide the highest quality and most compassionate care to the residents they serve. The good news for the elderly, their families, and the entire field is that they are succeeding.
At a time when long-term care is under intense scrutiny, not-for-profit providers are showing that there is a difference when it comes to quality. By consistently providing more hands-on care and developing new, more creative ways to meet the needs of their residents, not-for-profits are setting the standard for quality in the field.
Not-for-profits: The Place for InnovationNot-for-profits are where innovation happens. Around the state, the face of not-for-profit facilities is changing as providers strive to provide a dignified and homelike setting for residents, by redesigning their approach to care. The hospital-style facility of old, with its institutional environment and rigid procedures, is being replaced with facilities in which residents and staff strive for a home-like, family atmosphere, and residents are free to make their own choices about their day. Several LeadingAge New Jersey facilities have embraced the Eden Alternative, a care approach that responds to residents' feelings and chases away loneliness, helplessness, and boredom by bringing children, animals, and plants into the environment to create a "human habitat." Other nursing homes have adopted quality assurance programs and staff training and education programs to empower staff to make a real difference in the lives of residents. Senior housing facilities are expanding their programs and services to offer a fuller continuum of care to the residents they serve.
Not-for-profits: There Is a DifferenceAmerica's future is filled with older faces. LeadingAge New Jersey along with our national affiliate, LeadingAge, and our members, is working to ensure that long-term care not only meets the needs of tomorrow's older Americans, but exceeds their expectations.
Quality. Innovation. Caring. That's the not-for-profit difference.
